A break does not need to be earned by reaching the edge of exhaustion. Short pauses, meals away from a screen and enough sleep make it easier to return to difficult work with attention.
When you stop for the day, leave a clear note about the next step. “Find two sources for the introduction” is easier to resume than “work on essay.” You will spend less energy figuring out where to begin again.
If you have a free afternoon, choose what would actually help you recover. That might be time with friends, a walk, a quiet room or simply catching up on ordinary chores. There is no single correct way to rest.
If you have been struggling for a while, talk to someone you trust or use the support available to you. A routine can help, but it should not become another reason to carry everything alone.
